My country isn't lovely
Like it used to be
The people here are worried
The blind still can't see
But I'm sure they can hear
The children in their homes

When they'll look forward to tomorrow
The great divide is coming closer

And just pretend your kids aren't dying overseas
The change you want won't appear from simply wishing

I'm sick, sick and tired
Of watching this faded flag bleed
'Cause freedom may be nice,
But it sure as hell ain't cheap
Our past may be a sinking ship
Face down in the Atlantic
Tied up to a bridge of men
Who simply don't give a shit
But that don't mean today
We can't build a new a new tomorrow
Paint it up with brilliant colors
Made of change and call it hope
But we're not gonna take this
No, not anymore
You can't measure us
By what we've done before

The Bush has burned down
Now we see through all the bullshit
You've handed us the last 8 wasted years
Theoretically we'd be okay with man for a president
Too bad they gave us a boy with unsteady hands
So I'd like to propose
We transcend above the lows
Our fickle fumbling foes our fathers left for us
Wrap the states up in a flag
Carry them all on our backs
To a time and place where worry won't exist
And we always complain
How we're tied of the same
Then we re-elect the intelect that brought us here
So how about, this time around
We instead wage war on ever going back to how things were
