The Eagle

The eagle is up high
his beak and claws are fierce and sharp
and the last rays of sunlight
gently stroke the battlefield

An exodus of many souls
floats to the other side
they're taking leave of what will be
a cage of lifeless flesh

And thus the time of time has ended
for the ones all gone
they're drifting to a place unknown
shadows of the horizon

There's some who fly up in the sky
all freed in their rebirth
some chained once more by memories
pulled back towards the earth

But still, like how the eagle does
some gaze upon their prey
the ones who shall forever haunt
no matter night or day

For they shall fly up in the sky
all freed in their rebirth
yet chained once more by memories
and drawn towards the earth

They're wandering through places
an unknown source of fear
unaware of being not
yet always being near

They're close to erstwhile loved ones
they're close to enemies
they float above the mortals
and no one ever sees

Peace of divine detachment
for them it's not to know
they're bound by blood of mortals
'til it shall cease to flow.

The ghosts of restless warriors
Their war will ever last
The eagle flying up on high
afloat on winds of past.

Behold him as he flies:
he gazes down on tiny men
the time of time one day will end
and all shall fly forth then
