Pursuit of Happiness

Wide awake like the ghost of the past
Why do the best of dreams never last?
Counting sheep but there is never rest
Longing for something more than this

Chasing shadows in the dead of night
Hoping one day I'll feel alive
But the silence is deafening
And the darkness is closing in

I'm on the pursuit of happiness
But it feels like I'm chasing emptiness
Every step I take, I'm losing ground
In this endless search, I haven't found
