The Place

There was a time I felt so broken
Nothing in this world could make me smile
Life was ending, slipping through my fingers
But in the darkness, one place gave me light

A lonely corner, psychiatric clinic
Silent halls and cold-lit rooms
Forty minutes, two visits per week
And yet the music found its way back to me

They brought my instruments
Placed them in my hands
Locked in my room, I let my heart expand
I sang fearless, though my future seemed lost
So lost, so lost

But through the walls, my voice took flight
Then they called me: Please play for us tonight

Psychiatric clinic, you helped me see
Set my soul free, you brought music back to me
Thank you for showing, my purpose so clear
Through all my traumas
I'm glad my path has led me here
Many lives can be touched, and that's why I'm here

First attempt, a panic attack
Thought I'd never find the strength
Second time, still full of nerves
Yet for two whole hours the music held me
