Painting Me Gray

Autumn flies by like its only a day
I gotta get high cause I'm trying to stay here
But can I make it another year?
Ink isn't dry on the letters I've penned
Feels like I'll die if I lose one more friend
Oh, will the misery ever end?

Seasons, they will change
And so will I and you
Reasons, I'll take the blame
Deflate my pride, follow through

Guess I never knew how to do things right
Watched everyone else start to take their flights away
And it's painting me gray
Took the tiniest step then I fell once more
The people I love tend to leave before they'll stay

Mold myself into what turned out to be
A sculpture of someone who's nothing like me
And it breaks so easily
Someone familiar could offer a hand
Soften these edges with paper and sand
Then I would meet myself again

All my yesterdays
I scrub them clean and I'm sure
Now I can say
What I need is not a cure
