The Death Danced a Tango

A flower was born in a field of pain
Fed by the blood like a crimson rain
Soldiers fell and stained the ground
From death, new life has been found

Bombs are falling from the skies
Innocents with tear-stained eyes
Nuclear fire’s on command
The end of time is close at hand

Now pain and misery paint the earth
Everything lost, nothing of worth
Shadows creeping through the street
The cold will come with silent feet

So much sorrow, fear, and grief
Begging heaven for relief
Time crawls slowly, drowned in cries
We're drowning in our own goodbyes

There were so many fatal fights
The world was swallowed up by fright
Death danced a tango in the night
With bodies fading out of sight

We're heading for a tragic end
Broken hearts we cannot mend
Hatred claps for our disgrace
God sheds tears for the human race

The legend lives, it circles tight
The end will come, the final night
Ghosts are whispering in the air
The silent wind becomes a prayer

Mercy, Lord, have mercy still
Protect the ones who did Your will
Rain will fall from skies above
To cleanse the souls of those who love

Dreams abandoned, acid rain
Divine wrath will bring the flame
We are children of despair
Led by pride to who knows where
