People keep on asking me
Why is there so much pain you see?
I do what's right, I always care
But no one's ever truly there
I've got a heart that's kind and true
Still troubles come, out of the blue
While those who lie and cheat and scheme
Get all the things I only dream
Why do the wicked live so well
While I feel trapped inside this shell?
I only give, I never take
Yet everything begins to break
Then others ask: Why no one's found
A cure to turn this world around?
Why just delay, why medicate
Instead of stopping all this hate?
But listen now, I'll tell you clear
The truth will echo in your ear
There was a man, in days gone by
Who healed the sick, who heard the cry
He helped the weak with gentle grace
And asked for nothing in their place
He touched the hearts of those in pain
He stretched his hand through loss and rain
But what reward did he receive?
A public No, hard to believe
There was a man, long time ago
Who made the blind and crippled go
He healed the sick, the small and frail
But in the end, they made him fail
With endless love, he gave them all
He lifted up those doomed to fall
Yet crowds betrayed him, loud and strong
They chose Barabbas chose the wrong
And from the ones he helped to live
He heard the words they'd never give
They threw him stones, they turned their face
And nailed pure love in public place
